This was an "It's not you, it's me" book.I'm sure this book was terribly literary and skilful, but it left me completely cold. It felt disconnected and muddled, I didn't care about any of the characters, and picking it up again each time felt like a chore. Especially when a book contains such horrendous violence (and against a child with a disability at that), I need it some have some sort of purpose and payoff, and this just didn't for me.
