I wanted to love this book, I really did! But I just couldn't manage it. Most of the ingredients were there, but there was something in the cooking that just didn't quite work for me. I loved the voice, and the daily-diary cataloging and reflections; and having a credible disabled PoV character was awesome.I think a lot of what ruined it for me was the poverty of writing around the antagonist. The villain being an "insane" (oh for fuck's sake) cardboard cut-out with no credible motivation really undercut everything else the book was trying to do. And the climax was jarringly odd - very abrupt, over very quickly, and almost completely unrelated to what was going on in the rest of the book, both in tone and content.
